Stockmen’s Collective is a way for Nurtured Lands Farm to support the farmers who have guided us since we started. Not all farmers have the capability to sell meat by the cut and not all customers have the desire to purchase whole animals. That is where Stockmen’s Collective is stepping in. We will be able to support these farms by purchasing whole animals and serve our customers by selling one cut at a time.
We want you to know that we did not make this decision lightly. We are honored that you trust us to produce meat for your families and we chose these two farms specifically because we trust them. We would never work with someone that did not share our commitment to animal welfare and caring for the land.
Toby and Joseph have been our mentors and our guideposts for the practices on our farm. When we first moved to Princeton and wanted to begin raising grass finished beef, Toby and Debbie Dulworth were the first people to offer to help us get started. Toby has been raising beef in Ballard County for his entire life. He is known for the small frame Herefords he has developed specifically to finish on grass.
Joseph Mast is an Amish farmer in Crittenden County. When we wanted to raise forest pork, he was gracious enough to show us around his farm and answered all of our ‘how do you raise forest pork’ questions. Without him we would not have had the confidence to try it ourselves. Joseph’s hogs are forest raised and supplemented with a locally produced non-gmo feed.
Nurtured Lands Farm will still produce beef, pork, chicken and at times eggs. We love what we do, and we love helping local farmers find outlets for their products, it’s all about community. We want to make sure that our customers, as well as our family, always have access to local, nutrient dense, regeneratively raised proteins. It will be clear to you whether you are buying meat produced on our farm (labeled Nurtured Lands Farm) or meat from the collective (labeled Stockmen’s Collective).
Thank you for supporting Nurtured Lands Farms over the years and we hope you will welcome and support these new farms too. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at info@nurturedlands.com.
